
We are deeply mourn by the sudden demise of Bangladesh Buddhist Association's present executive committee's (2013-2016) General Secretary Mr. Pranesh Kanti Barua (1950 - 2014). He passed away on 14 February, 2014, 5.15 pm at the local hospital due to a heart attack.
Mr. Pranesh Kanti Barua was the founder & proprietor of Joy Traders C&F firm, Chairman of Scam Garments & Max Hospital and Director of Royal Pharmaceuticals. He was awarded as the gold medalist for highest tax payee in Chittagong by National Board of Revenue of Bangladesh.
Several social, religious, cultural and political organizations have expressed their mourn in the death of Mr. Pranesh Kanti Barua.
This munificent person was born on 20 September 1950 in a aristocrat Buddhist family in the village 'Sathbaria' under Chandanaish Upazilla/Police Sation of Chittagong District. He left his mother, wife, 1 son & 2 daughters and many more relatives. His first reminiscence ceremony has taken place at the Chittagong Buddhist Monastery premises on 15 February, 2014, 8 am - 11 am. In this reminiscence ceremony people of all races gathered for paying their last respect to Mr. Pranesh Kanti Barua. The members & officials of many Buddhist religious, cultural and social organizations, His Holiness the Deputy Sangharaja of Supreme Sangha Counicl of Bangladesh and the chief abbot of Chittagong Buddhist monastery Ven. Dr. Janasree Mahathero, the founder of Purnachar International Buddhist Temple Ven. Satya Priya Mahasthavir, resident monk of Chittagong Buddhist Monastery Ven. Agrabansha Mahathero and many other monks were present. Besides, the honorable Minister of Housing & Public Works ministry Engr. Mosharof Hossen Chowdhury was also paid his last respect to Mr. Pranesh Kanti Barua.
After that, his body had taken to his native village. There after the second reminiscence meeting his funeral ceremony were completed.
The weekly Sanghadana ceremony of Late Pranesh Kanti Barua will be taken place on Thursday, 20 February, 2014 in his native village in Sathbaria, Chandanaish.
